Young Marines Network News Wins Second Telly Award

Washington DC (PRWEB) April 28, 2014

The 35th annual Telly Awards have been announced, and a Nov., 2013, broadcast of the Young Marines News Network won a 2014 bronze Telly in the online video category. This is the fifth Telly Award for the Young Marines, the second specifically for the Young Marines Network News.

Founded in 2011, the Young Marines News Network is a quarterly online video broadcast that serves as a resource for news about the youth organization. It is part video news release and part news report. The purpose of the network is to showcase the good works being done across the country by Young Marines units, to serve as an effective communication tool and to show appreciation to sponsors and supporters for dedication to the Young Marines.

With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor, said Mike Kessler, national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines.

Our network news is all about showcasing the creative work of the units which in turn benefit other units. Its all about sharing ideas.

Much of the success of the televised online content depends on Young Marine units across the country informing national headquarters about what their units are doing in their communities and of their local achievements. Young Marine units pitch their own story ideas for consideration. If a story idea is picked up by the Young Marines News Network producers, units are notified of the proper submission guidelines unique to their story.

Its exciting to be honored once again with a Telly Award, said YM SgtMaj Dakota Richter, 17, the National Young Marine of the Year. For me, being a part of such a production at such a relatively young age is such a fantastic learning experience and truly a blessing. All the members of our program are a part of this as well, because of their submissions and shout-outs from communities across America.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979. A prestigious judging panel of over 500 industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work entries do not compete against each other rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.
