The Votes Are In: Bandages Are For Babies Wins WoundSeal/Ringling College of Art and Design Viral Video Contest(July 18, 2014)
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) July 18, 2014
Bandages Are For Babies/League of Manly Men by third year student Shashwat Bista is the winner of the WoundSeal short film/viral video contest with The Collaboratory and ART Network at Ringling College of Art and Design.
Bistas video, featuring a clumsy manly man who cuts his finger while washing dishes and applies WoundSeal to stop the bleeding instantly, was selected as the winner from among six promo spots featuring creative, entertaining uses of the product. Bistas video captured the most likes during a public voting period held this spring on http://www.woundseal.com to win the first place scholarship prize of $2,000. Second place ($1,000) went to George Jones for his International Professional Healers Invitational video, and Evan Mattson won third place ($500) for his video spoof of the William Tell legend. Over 2,000 visitors viewed the videos on the Woundseal web site, with more than 500 casting votes for their favorites.
We are delighted with Shashs ingenious use of humor to showcase WoundSeal and create a great buzz for the brand, and proud of how funny, creative, and memorable all six promo spots turned out, said Cynthia Gravino, associate vice president for collaborative enterprises at The Collaboratory at Ringling College of Art and Design. WoundSeal is an ideal collaborative partner for our students and faculty. The wit, energy, and enthusiasm their team brought to this pilot project inspired the students to produce such imaginative and effective work. We are eagerly anticipating the next phase and cant wait to get it started this fall.
The Collaboratory, an initiative partner of The Patterson Foundation, worked with Biolife, the company that manufactures and distributes WoundSeal, to incorporate this pilot program into the Spring 2014 class curriculum as a special ART Network multidisciplinary elective. Working in a real-world, studio environment, the student team served as Biolifes advertising agency, writing, directing, editing and producing their 30-second commercials.
This project was a tremendous opportunity for our students many of whom had no prior experience in television commercial production, explained faculty facilitator and course instructor Lisa Moody. Our 4-person team worked with the client to conceive of six diverse stories, all to broaden the exposure of WoundSeal, and to add humor to a serious issue.
