Grammy-Winner To Consult With Top Acoustic Design Firm
Grammy-winning engineer/producer/studio-owner Robert Margouleff has joined the Walters-Storyk Design Group as Project Engineer. Margouleff brings 40+ years of hands on experience to his new role with the global architectural acoustics/ technology integration design firm. "Robert Margouleff has literally done it all," states WSDG Principal/Director of International Relations Sergio Molho. "He has accrued an incalculable wealth of real-world studio knowledge. His design, construction and technology expertise, coupled with his deep insights into project studio requirements and techniques, will be a significant new asset for our clients," Molho said.
Margouleff will be involved in all aspects of WSDG's west coast projects. He will consult with new clients on details ranging from site selection to design, construction, technology, acoustic treatments and systems integration.
"We began expanding our West Coast presence last March with the addition of Bob Skye as SF-based rep/project engineer," company Co-Founder John Storyk reports. "Robert Margouleff's accomplishments and skills are impossible to match, plus, he has maintained an incredible level of enthusiasm for the process. We've been friends forever, but the idea for this formal relationship was inspired by Robert's 2010 AES Keynote Address in San Francisco," Storyk concludes. "He was at the top of his game that afternoon, combining historical milestones with prescient insights into the future of the industry. I knew then that he could bring a tremendous amount of real-world experience to our shop. We are confident that his 'Project Engineer' title will cover a lot of ground. This is a great way to start the New Year."
Walters-Storyk Design Group has designed over 3000 media facilities worldwide. Credits include Jimi Hendrix's 1969's Electric Lady Studios; NYC's Jazz At Lincoln Center and Le Poisson Rouge; broadcast facilities for The Food Network, ESPN, and WNET; major education complexes for NYU and Berklee College of Music Boston and Valencia, Spain; media rooms for Hoffman La Roche, and other corporate clients. Recent projects include NYC's TEC award winner Jungle City Studios and private studios for Green Day, Jay-Z, Timbaland's Tim Mosley, film composer Carter Burwell, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen and Alicia Keys. WSDG principals John Storyk (an adjunct professor at Berklee College,) Beth Walters, Sergio Molho and Dirk Noy lecture frequently at universities and industry events, and contribute regularly to industry publications.WSDG has collaborated with such noted architects as Frank Gehry, Rafael Vinoly, Norman Foster, Oscar Niemeyer, Phillipe Stark and Nicholas Grimshaw.
