Luciana Lagana and Gregory Grahams Feature Screenplay 'Old River Road' Receives Its First Award Nomination at the 2013 LA Screenplay Competition(February 25, 2013)
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 25, 2013
Luciana Lagana and Gregory Grahams feature screenplay, Old River Road, has received a nomination at the 2013 LA Screenplay Competition in Beverly Hills, California. Luciana and Gregory work as 'weekend warriors' as they dedicate their spare time to screenwriting as well as acting.
This screenplay is available on The Black List website. The story is based on true events from Gregorys life, from his childhood in rural Iowa to his adulthood in Los Angeles and back in rural Iowa. Viewers will join in his experience through continuous, unexpected action that revolves around intriguing drama and suspense. The script touches upon criminal activities as well as other real-world topics, from bullying to environment degradation.
In addition to Old River Road, which was recognized at the 2013 LA Screenplay Competition, the writers script, Soup Kitchen a Californication spec script has garnered nods for best teleplay at the 2012 Los Angeles Screenplay Competition and at the 2012 Hollywood Screenplay Contest.
I believe that it is imperative to write about environmental issues and bullying, respectively, said Gregory. Growing up in rural Iowa, I witnessed many complex situations involving companies polluting the environment, so I felt compelled to write about it. Regarding bullying, I was lucky to live in a very small town in which people knew and respected each other. I grew up relying on the support of a close group of loving family members and friends. I also had the honor to be part of the local high school football team, which gave me opportunities to make many friends. I did not experience bullying but, once I moved to Los Angeles and met Luciana, we started making friends with other couples whose children were bullied. My wife is a psychologist, so many people open up to her about issues such as bullying problems.
It is a very sad situation to see that kids, at times starting at a very young age, are pressured by bullies to conform and often suffer dire consequences if they refuse, Luciana added. I am glad that Gregory got me involved in co-writing this screenplay; hopefully it will be produced, as it has several lessons that could be useful to many people regarding the need to respect the environment to protect peoples health, and concerning the negative consequences of cruel actions such as bullying, she concluded.
