HPD Architecture, LLC Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary(March 14, 2013)
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 14, 2013
HPD Architecture, LLC, a noted full-service architecture and interior design firm, celebrates its five-year business anniversary. The firm opened its doors in January 2008. Since its launch, HPD has focused on new construction, renovations, and additions for private residences, corporate and medical offices, and universities.
HPD credits its success to two key factors: First, the diverse roles and talents of the principals, Holly Hall, AIA, CAPS; Larry Paschall, AIA; and Laura Davis, AIA, IFDA; and secondly, off road activities that distinguish the firm from others in its industry.
The economic recession in 2009 had adverse effects on numerous industries. Architecture was no exception. Rather than retreating to mere survival mode, HPD decided to engage in unconventional marketing and client development activities in order to grow the firms business. Such activities included networking, speaking, community, and social media outreach.
In 2010, HPD pioneered The Architecture Happy Hour monthly networking event, which brings together architects, interior designers, and various industry members interested in reaching out to the design community. From 140 members at its launch, The Architecture Happy Hour has grown to 1,285 in membership. It is the 8th largest architecture and 6th largest interior design meet-up group in the world.
In addition, HPD authors and hosts the audio podcast, The Architecture Happy Hour, an informal discussion about architecture for design professionals, clients, and architecture students available on iTunes. Currently, there are more than 10,000 worldwide subscribers to the podcast.
As respected speakers, HPDs principals share their firms experience and respective industry acumen at conferences across the U.S. They serve on executive and advisory boards, such as the Function: Advisory Board in Atlanta, Georgia; and the International Furnishings and Design Association. Moreover, each is engaged, respectively, in community organizations, most notably, The Dallas Womans Forum; and the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce.
In 2012, Davis was honored with the Forty under 40 award by the Dallas Business Journal. The award recognizes executives and entrepreneurs who are high achievers in their professions and have demonstrated commitment to the North Texas community.
Reflecting on their firms initiatives and momentum since its inception, which includes more than doubling its revenue between 2012 and 2010, the principals shared their respective lessons learned and related tips:
Holly Hall, AIA, CAPS
After being in the architecture industry for a number of years, it is exciting to launch a firm and watch it evolve. One of the most rewarding results is making connections with a diversity of people. By reaching out and participating within the community, the community, in turn, embraces you.
Larry Paschall, AIA
Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone if you want to grow professionally and personally. When you let go of learned or perceived professional behaviors and try something new, the results are amazing and a win-win for the business.
Laura Davis, AIA, IFDA
Take time to discover and embrace your talents and passions. Holly, Larry, and I each identified our roles as part of the whole. Our respective strengths balance each other and we have a cohesive and collaborative team.
And a key lesson echoed by all three HPD principals:
The connection with a client is paramount to the success of any project. It creates a strong, enduring foundation and paves the way for future opportunities.
