Corra Group Adds Background Checks to Meet Increases in Film, Television, and Advertising Production(January 28, 2014)

With a marked increase in local film and television production, Corra Group has focused on background checking services to the entertainment and advertising industries. Basichis explained that for reality television shows and advertising commercials, it is increasingly crucial to conduct background checks on the contestants and interview subjects. He noted the types of background checks that are needed or commercials and television and film production.
Often TV producers or ad agencies will contact us when they are nearing production, said Basichis. Principal photography begins in week or a couple of days, so time becomes a major factor in conducting background checks. County Criminal Record's searches are always the more accurate searches, but they are hand searches and take several days to turnaround.
I realize it is tough sometimes to plan up front. In show business everybody is waiting for somebody and before long it is crunch time. Ideally, it is best to conduct the background checks early on. That way you know before you start the shoot who you can use and who is ineligible.
Basichis noted that Corra Group has background checking packages for both media contestants and people in focus groups as well as the staff and executives working in advertising, film, television, and new digital media. He offered that database criminal searches and county criminal records searches are the most commonly sought of background checks. But, he suggested, social media searches are most worthwhile in determining the character of a contestant.
Corra Group has been experiencing an increase in demand for social media searches. They have been conducting it for advertising focus groups and for both the staffing of the media production companies and recruiting for their reality shows.
Its always good to remember that things are not often what they appear, cautioned Basichis. Some of the more charming characters are the ones with serious criminal records. They have polished that charm from conning people. And now here they are trying to con their way onto a show or into a focus group. It is bad news, the kind that makes for embarrassing headlines.
