Cerner Corporation Enters at No. 69 in 2013 InformationWeek 500(September 19, 2013)
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq:CERN), a leading health care information technology and services provider, today announced that it ranked No. 69 in this year's InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. The distinction represents Cerner's first entry in the InformationWeek 500 and marks the 2nd recognition for innovation in as many months, as Cerner was recently ranked by Forbes as the 7th most innovative company in America and 13th in the World.
InformationWeek recognized Cerner for its deployment of Cerner SkyboxSM Network Connect, a nationwide carrier-grade network dedicated exclusively to the health care industry. Built, managed, and support by Cerner, the network provides fully redundant and secure connectivity, handling data traffic between client health care venues and Cerner's US data center facilities. The full deployment of Cerner Skybox Network has delivered significant improvements in both the reliability and performance of network connectivity for Cerner's clients, in additional to improved scalability and operational cost reductions.
"Network connectivity represents a foundational component of hosting and cloud service delivery. As our solutions and services increasingly leverage hosted data and cloud computing, delivering world-class network connectivity becomes all the more important," said Bill Graff, Senior Vice President of Cerner's Technology Services organization. "Our clients look to Cerner for class-leading hosting and cloud services, and it is through innovations like the Cerner Skybox Network that we can continue to drive service improvement across our entire client base. We are very pleased to have Cerner recognized by InformationWeek for our innovative use of technology, and we thank our clients for all of their support as we continue to pursue new innovations on their behalf."
"The theme of this year's InformationWeek 500 is digital business. It's a movement, rooted in data analytics, mobile computing, social networking and other customer-focused technologies that are turning companies and industries on their ear," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. "Every enterprise is now a digital business — or needs to become one fast. The organizations in our ranking are leading the way."
