Los Angeles, Calif., Aug. 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Monterey Car Week is a bucket-list event for all
serious car enthusiasts. Once a year, rare automotive specimens can
be seen in the wild on California's scenic Central Coast. Nowhere
else on the planet can the general public see multi-million-dollar
museum cars, priceless one-off factory prototypes, Le Mans-winning
racers and more on the roads of the Monterey peninsula. For the
first time, enthusiasts will be able to see the cars, hear their
stories and see what transpires behind the scenes from the
participant's viewpoint., the Petersen Automotive Museum's
enthusiast site, will offer exclusive coverage of Monterey Car Week
2014 beginning Tuesday, August 11, and running through Sunday,
August 17. Cars from the Petersen Automotive Museum's collection
have been invited to participate in many major events this year,
and will be on the scene, documenting every start-up
and high-speed pass in Monterey. Social media updates, video clips,
features and Podcasts will tell the stories from:

The Petersen will display four rare cars from
its collection at these events: a 1956 Jaguar XK-SS formerly owned
by Steve McQueen, a 1954 Plymouth Explorer Concept by Ghia, a 1947
Cisitalia 202 Coupe, and a 1929 Ruxton Model C Roadster, which will
compete at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The site also offers readers the opportunity to
share their own car stories with the world because "Everyone has a
story about a car."  A simple online form allows readers to
upload images, video and text. While The Petersen will have four
people covering events on site all week, it also invites readers to
showcase their own galleries and stories through a simple

The Petersen Automotive Museum
is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational
institution.  The Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Boulevard
(at Fairfax) in Los Angeles, California 90036.  Admission
prices are $12 for general admission adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for
students with ID, $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Museum members,
active military with ID and children under five are admitted free.
Vault tours are available for an additional $20, and are offered on
a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free for the first 30
minutes and $2.00 each additional 30 minutes. One hour validation
with purchase of $20 or more in the Museum Store or Johnny Rockets
located in the museum lobby.  The museum is open seven
