Bruce Goodman Walks "Mile, Mile and a Half", for Hollywood Post Production Services Company, Hot Pixel Post

Ric Serena, and his production team slogged through the wilderness of the Muir outback, the light rain, the low fog, and the possible ravenous Black Bear and Marmot to create the documentary MileMile & a Half. The expressive beauty of the Muir trail in the middle of summer and the lazy half-light of dimming autumn, the stunning starlit night of Californias wilderness is the canvas for this project.

Every moment is that moment, states Bruce Goodman, Senior Colorist at Hollywoods Hot Pixel Post. Bruce is an avid hiker with a deep and abiding respect for the Muir Trail having hiked several sections over the years. After having seen one of the trailers for the film via their Kick-starter fundraising campaign, I reached out to the creative team to let them know I would consider it an honor to serve as their colorist. We spent two hours meeting with Bruce, said Serena, and afterwards we felt like we would have the movie that we wanted, it was that kind of creative relationship.

But this would have been a different project if Bruce hadnt have talked us through it. In fact, if we had left a day earlier or a day later, we would have had a completely different film

Bruce has been an integral team member and colorist of Hot Pixel Post for 3 years. The company is the brainchild of Editorial entrepreneur Art Freed, located at 3575 Cahuenga Blvd West. We are all filmmakers here, and we approach every project from that creative perspective. Freed also worked with Serena and company on the Muir project. Bruce has grown a great deal over the last three years, and it was obvious he was the only man for this job.

The film had a truly demanding production schedule, Try setting up a nice shot after hiking all day and carrying production equipment up a hefty grade, it was exhausting. Says Serena. Bruce was able counter all these problems and even out the 4 different cameras and exposures we were using and all the issues that had come to us throughout the hike, which was actually 25 days long.

It felt as if Bruce was our phantom 6th member of the team, commented Jason Fitzpatrick, project DP. He really left no stone unturned to give us a look on the film that we wanted.

This is the way I deal with all my projects, says Goodman, I have to get inside the head of the DP and really project itself so that I can deliver the level of color the project deserves. MileMile & a Half is of course special to me since I have such an attachment to the Muir trail. I lucked out that I was able to be such an integral part of the film.
