Companies are always developing new products for their business and a 2010 report from the National Science Foundation revealed that 22% of all manufacturers introduced a new service for their business during the previous three years.*
James Martell, VP of Business Development at The School Of Internet Marketing, recently interviewed Bill Lawrence, founder of HealthTraits.org about finding the ideal market for a new product. Bill was involved in helping create and launch glutathione supplement SynergiaGSH and is also the host of the popular Healthtraits podcast.
"Necessity is the mother of invention," remarks Bill Lawrence.
One of the most challenging aspects of developing any new product is finding the right market and audience for the idea. Every industry has many smaller niche markets that cater for specific needs and can be worth millions to anyone with the right idea. Therefore, its important to identify which markets a product might appeal into and make sure that everything associated with that idea such as the name, look and price of the brand.
Bill Lawrence also states that "Niche marketing is really the way to go."
In the podcast, James and Bill will discuss the processes and strategies someone will need to go through when looking to sell and market a new product. Business owners will also hear about some of the challenges and hurdles that they may come across when looking to sell products into niche markets and how this may impact the overall product development phase.
"Bill is a successful entrepreneur and holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University and a MBA from the City University in Seattle," explains James Martell. "He clearly has found a need for his product and fulfilled it."
