Bill Cosby Tops List of Most Admired Fathers in America According to New Poll Commissioned by the FOE(June 13, 2014)
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2014
Bill Cosby tops the list as the most admired father in the United States according to a poll commissioned by the community service organization Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) in celebration of Fathers Day. Last month, the FOE initiated a Mothers Day poll celebrating the holidays 100tth anniversary as well as their prominent participation in establishing the official holiday in 1914. Michelle Obama topped the Mothers Day poll.
Forty percent of the 1,650 registered voters polled picked Cosby from a list of fifteen real life fathers. Placing a close second was Barack Obama at 36%, followed by actors Tom Hanks at 28% and Michael J. Fox at 25%. Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush are next at 23% and 21% respectively. Other choices in order of preference were Billy Graham, Mitt Romney, Bill Gates, Will Smith, Warren Buffett, Colin Powell, Bill Clinton, John McCain and Mohammad Ali.
Participants were asked, With Fathers Day approaching, which of these dads do YOU personally admire the most as dads? Respondents could select more than one choice on the list. The poll was conducted online on May 24, 2014, by Luntz Global and has a margin of error of 2.4%.
That Bill Cosby is top of the Fathers Day list is not a surprise. He has been topping these kinds of list for years. Cosby has five children: four daughters Erika, Erinn, Ensa and Evin and a son Ennis, whom he lost in 1997. He has three grandchildren. His humor often centers on the basic cornerstones of our existence, seeking to provide an insight into our roles as parents, children and family members. Cosbys 1984 92 run of The Cosby Show and his New York Bestseller Fatherhood underscores his distinction as an admired father.
In addition their concerns with honoring Fathers and Mothers Days, the FOE has played a prominent role on a broad array of social and philanthropic causes, including helping launch Social Security and Medicare and ensuring legal protection against job discrimination based on age. This year the Eagles celebrate the completion of $25 million, multi-year commitment to establish the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa, a state-of-the-art medical research facility dedicated to the prevention and potential eradication of diabetes.
Established in 1898, the non-profit Fraternal Order of Eagles is made up of 800,000 members based in over 1500 chapters (aeries) and 1300 womens auxiliaries. Their ranks include seven former U.S. Presidents, celebrities and other notables from all walks of life. In addition to Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa, the organization raises in excess of $100 million each year to benefit local communities and charities and support medical research and treatment on a host of conditions.
