321 Entertainment and Chase the Cat Productions Presents the Atlanta Premiere of Levy Lee Simon’s The Bow Wow Club

Atlanta, GA, September 14, 2018 --( 321 Entertainment and Chase the Cat Productions are thrilled to present the award winning play, The Bow Wow Club, written and directed by Levy Lee Simon. Winner of the Lorraine Hansberry Award – the Kennedy Center, ACTF, and three time NAACP nominee, the play is a serious comedy about friendship lost and rediscovered. Renown for being “Ladies Men” back in the day, the five best friends from the streets of Harlem USA reunite after 25 years only to find out they are not the same people they knew from the past, or are they? They test their bond of loving memories but instead find secrets, lies and betrayals that bring fireworks to the picnic table for one explosive and unforgettable 4th of July weekend. They are forced to choose between their grown-up differences and the undeniable power of their lifelong bond while showcasing their hopes, dreams, disappointments, failures, successes and the surprising changes that took place when they went their separate ways living life as Black men America.

Dramatic yet undeniably funny, The Bow Wow Club addresses many of the issues that confront the African American and national communities today. The play has been produced in New York, Los Angeles, the Karamu Theatre in Cleveland, and the National Black Theatre Festival, to name a few. The Bow Wow Club is the most produced play in the canon of plays by Levy Lee Simon.

The cast for The Bow Wow Club is led by guest artist Ky Ziegler, KD Dixon, and Javon Johnson, with talented Atlanta artists Nikki Tombs, David Rucker, III, Kate Lackey, Emma Harr, Gordon Douglas, Stanley Drinks and Jovon “Showtime” Johnson, along with Tyrone Poole and Eddison Toby.

Opening Night is Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7:30 PM followed by a reception. The show will run through September 30, 2018. Performances are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM.

About The Playwright
Levy Lee Simon is a playwright, actor, director and screenwriter, perhaps best known for his trilogy about the struggle for Haitian independence, For the Love of Freedom. Other plays by Simon include: God, the Crackhouse, and the Devil, The Last Revolutionary, Same Train, The Stuttering Preacher, The Guest at Central Park West, Caseload, Pitbulls and Daffodils, and The Magnificent Dunbar Hotel.
